Asreen Rostami
Senior Researcher
I am a Senior Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Researcher at the RISE Division of Digital Systems and hold a Ph.D. from the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences at Stockholm University. At RISE, I lead two strategic areas of expertise: XR Research and Development and Human-Centred Cybersecurity.
My work in XR builds upon my Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction from Stockholm University (2020), where I focused on incorporating interactive technologies into the design of XR experiences. Currently, I investigate diverse applications of Virtual and Extended Reality, specifically examining: the integration of AI within XR environments, the role of AI agents in virtual spaces, and the ethics of XR.
In parallel, I lead the Human-Centred Cybersecurity research focus. This initiative aims to establish a leading Nordic research group by converging social, design, and technical competences. My background in this domain includes an ERCIM postdoctoral fellowship focused on "humanising" Internet of Things (IoT) security, and a Digital Futures fellowship on gender-inclusive cybersecurity conducted in collaboration with the STIR group at Stockholm University.
I serve on the steering committee for the ACM IMX conference and I am a member of the ethical advisory board for an EU-funded project. My research initiatives are supported by competitive grants from Digital Futures, Vinnova, and Vetenskapsrådet.
