Melina da Silva
Enhetschef

Melina works as a researcher performing materials analysis, mainly using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and its associated techniques (elemental analysis, crystallography, texture, etc.). Melina has many years of experience in preparing and characterising a wide range of solid materials, such as polymers, textiles, metals and ceramics, and performs also failure analysis of materials and products. Examples of soft materials are cellulose/polymer-based fibres, functional fibres (piezoelectric), recycled plastics, packaging material and wound care products. Examples of harder materials are surface-treated sheet metal, superalloys, 3D-printed metallic and ceramic materials, implants, etc. Also, particularly challenging materials, such as solder joints in electronics, nanoparticles and graphene.
