Karin Pettersson
Forskare
Karin has 20 years of experience in energy systems analysis across a wide range of research projects and assignments. Her work has primarily focused on designing efficient value chains through integration with existing industry and infrastructure, techno-economic and environmental assessments, and policy analysis of concepts and development pathways, with a particular emphasis on biorefineries, including biofuel production and bio-CCUS. She has also worked more broadly from other perspectives on topics such as sustainable transport, development pathways for the pulp and paper industry, and increased utilization of industrial excess heat.
Her work has spanned from plant-level studies to national-level analyses, including the representation and assessment of technologies and value chains in system models. Karin has a strong overview of the entire energy system, combined with in-depth expertise in several areas, and has applied a wide range of methods and tools. She has an extensive professional network and has collaborated with universities, research institutes, energy companies, industry, and public-sector stakeholders.
Since late 2022, Karin has served as the Swedish task leader for IEA Bioenergy Task 40. During 2023–2024, she acted as an expert and editor for Fossil-Free Sweden’s strategy on bio-CCUS.
