Sustainable Land Allocation – Guideline and Future Directions

How can land allocation become a powerful tool for promoting sustainable construction? What requirements can municipalities set – and how can these requirements be formulated clearly and effectively?
Welcome to an open webinar where we will present the newly developed guidelines for setting sustainability requirements in land allocation processes.

In the project Sustainable Land Allocation, we have worked together with municipalities, developers, and researchers to create a shared set of guidelines with requirements and assessment criteria for the land allocation process. The aim is to provide municipalities with practical tools to set requirements that promote sustainable and equitably designed living environments, as well as resource-efficient material flows. By establishing clarity and shared terminology, we seek to reduce the current uncertainty surrounding what can and may be required, and to make it easier for both municipalities and developers to follow up on these requirements.

With funding from Vinnova, RISE has led the project in collaboration with Markanvisning.se, nine municipalities, five developers, and Luleå University of Technology. The guidelines developed are based on shared needs and practical experiences from the field.

In this webinar, we will present the contents of the finalized guidelines, walk through how the requirements and criteria are structured, and share our plans for how the guidelines will be maintained and kept up to date moving forward. We will also explain how you, as a municipality or developer, can apply these guidelines in your own land allocation processes.

We warmly welcome you to join us, explore the results, and discuss how we can continue to develop requirements in land allocation processes – together driving more sustainable urban development!
