Floating Solar Energy mooRing
The main goal of the FRESHER project is to demonstrate and validate a new innovative mooring solution for floating solar arrays which implies a step change in the LCoE and performance of the Solar Power, ensuring that more renewable energy units can be built. The design is based on lessons learnt from previous tests and commercial deployments as well as experience from the industrial and offshore sector. The specific project objectives and expected outcomes of the FRESHER project are:
Objective 1: Demonstrate an innovative mooring solution in a full-scale floating PV park that is 50% more cost efficient compared to standard solutions making the floating solar parks more sustainable with eased manufacturing and installation, as well as lower the transport and maintenance needs
Objective 2: Increase TRL levels for the solutions from TRL6 to TRL8 to make the product roll-out for the involved companies feasible
Objective 3: Increase knowledge on motions and loads on the moorings of a floating solar park, weather impact, maintenance requirements, etc. to enable further improvements of the moorings and anchoring of floating solar parks
Objective 4: Reduce risks when planning and executing projects due to more certainty on technical challenges and lifetime.
Objective 5: Demonstrate and validate mooring solutions for near-shore and offshore floating PV parks by involving a new industry and its entire value chain in research and innovation process.
