Packaging that protects, communicates and interacts
If an avocado is correctly packaged, it will survive distribution, storage and sale without damage or perishing. Reduced food waste saves both money and the environment. Packaging must meet the requirements for contact with foodstuffs, as well as being recyclable or reusable – something that applies equally to paper, cardboard, metal, glass, polymers or wood. A large proportion of packaging research is aimed at developing entirely new materials with interactive functions.
