Lipid-based formulations are used for pharmaceutical products in a wide range of disease indications, with different routes of administration, cost considerations, product stability, toxicity, and efficacy. Lipids often are a crucial part of a commercially viable strategy to formulate new drugs for topical, oral, pulmonary, or parenteral delivery.
