Welcome to an exciting and content-rich seminar where we will discuss how we can develop products made from more environmentally friendly materials, facilitate recycling, and ensure the functionality, durability, and safety of reusable products for healthcare and care environments.
With a focus on products for healthcare, hygiene, and care environments, the seminar will address topics such as regulatory issues, substitution, testing methods, as well as practical examples from substitution projects. After the seminar, we will offer a guided tour of relevant testing laboratories at RISE's facilities.
Among our speakers:
- Nina Melander, advisor at the Substitution Centre, will present how the EU framework Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) can be used to develop new or optimize existing chemicals, materials, products, and processes. The framework provides a broader understanding of various aspects of sustainability work already at an early stage of research and development.
- Henrik Bäckdahl, member of the CEN-CLC/SAG on Healthcare Standards working group on circularity, will talk about ongoing standardization work, sustainability regulations, and other challenges related to medical devices.
- Jamilla Nilsson, project manager for Vårda – Circular Flows of Plastics & Textiles in Healthcare, will share her experiences regarding the challenges and opportunities in collecting and recycling materials from healthcare.
- Simonetta Granello and Josefin Seth Caous will present testing methods suitable for evaluating reusable products in terms of functionality, cleanability, and durability.
The seminar will be held mainly in Swedish, with some parts in English.
The seminar is aimed at those who manufacture or procure products for healthcare, health, and care environments.
A light lunch will be provided.
