Contact OscarThe project focuses on improving production efficiency in the automotive industry by using graphene-reinforced copper electrodes for spot welding, which reduces maintenance costs and increases sustainability. With links to the competitiveness of Swedish industry and UN Agenda 2030 goals, it contributes to both economic and sustainable development.
The project aims to improve industrial production efficiency by minimizing maintenance downtime in vehicle manufacturing. By reinforcing copper electrodes for spot welding (RSW) with graphene, the thermal and electrical conductivity and hardness of the electrodes will increase. As a result, their durability and wear resistance will improve, reducing costly maintenance and replacement needs, which currently hinder production efficiency. The project aims to strengthen key areas of Swedish industry's competitiveness and increase profitability and cost-effectiveness, which will significantly benefit the automotive sector, which is crucial for Sweden's economy. The results of the project will be evaluated through industrial experiments and analyses. The project covers the entire value chain related to RSW electrodes from raw material suppliers, via electrode material manufacturers, equipment suppliers and manufacturing end-users. Several project activities will be carried out at industrial partners to achieve implementation of the project's innovations.
