Battery regulation course

The Battery Regulation in practice

The new Battery Regulation raises the bar for manufacturers and importers, with stricter demands on sustainability, traceability, and certification. This course offers essential guidance to help you stay compliant and ahead of the curve.

The Battery Regulation was adopted in August 2023 and will now be implemented in several stages over the coming years. It applies to all types of batteries and affects the entire battery life cycle: from raw materials and product design to CE marking, digital battery passports and the management of end-of-life batteries. Failure to comply can result in delays, increased costs and loss of access to the EU market.

Course objectives

In this course, RISE experts guide you through the structure of the Battery Regulation, the division of responsibilities and certification requirements. You will gain a clear overview of what applies – and how you can prepare to stay one step ahead. After completing the course, you will:

  • Understand the requirements for market access to the EU
  • Know what applies to CE marking and EU declaration
  • Be aware of the content and function of the battery passport
  • Be familiar with certification processes and allocation of responsibility
  • Be better equipped to meet future sustainability requirements

Target group

The course is primarily aimed at manufacturers of cells and batteries or manufacturers/importers of batteries and products containing batteries.
