Group manager and sientific leader Quantum Information Processing
About us
RISE Computer Science department is the leading Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence lab in Sweden. You will be joining a unit working with Space, Quantum, and High Performance Computing. Together with partners and customers from industry and academia we develop sustainable systems at the frontier of applied science.
About RISE and Quantum Information Processing (QIP)
The mission of the QIP focus area at RISE is to create an excellent environment for hybrid QIP combining classical and quantum methods and devices. The goal is to establish an integrated HPC+AI+QIP testbed, -network, and -ecosystem in Sweden, for advanced applications and users from industry, institutes, and academia. This involves work at all TRL levels, from low to high. The QIP ecosystem will integrate with and be part of Nordic-, European- and global ecosystems. It will connect to the EU digital programs involving the Quantum Flagship, the EuroHPC JU, EuroQCI, and ENCCs. It will be deeply involved in the development beyond 2028 towards fault-tolerant quantum computing (FTQC), and it will play a central role in the implementation of the Swedish Quantum Strategy during this time.
About the role
You will be manager of an agile team of researchers and experts with diverse backgrounds in classical- and quantum information technology (QIT) and a shared passion for bringing the benefits of quantum technology to societal benefit through training, mentoring, consulting and hands-on proof-of-concept projects.
The role involves forging a tight group of specialists that will be at the QIT forefront during the next 10 years and tackle the challenges that are the focus of QIT roadmaps – aiming for FTQC, quantum advantage and quantum supremacy. You will contribute to the development and implementation of the Quantum Excellence Centre where RISE has an important stake and will lead major projects.
Last, but not least, you will collaborate with Mimer (AI Factory at LiU and RISE) to promote integration of HPC, AI, and QC into a testbed and service centre for hybrid quantum computation at the global forefront.
Location is Gothenburg or Kista and we follow a hybrid work model that allows for dividing working hours between the office and a home workspace. The role will involve travels, mainly within Sweden and the EU.
