Material transition is about taking a different approach on material use in order to reach climate goals and halt the depletion of Earth’s. A successful material transition requires vigorous development in the sustainable use of materials, the adoption of circular business models, value-creating recycling, and behavioral changes in consumption patterns, such as sharing economies and business models. For example, adopt pay per use instead of ownership. We need to replace fossil materials by biomaterials, reduce resource exploitation, and extend resource lifespans. This places new demands on production processes.
At RISE we have expertise, testbeds, and innovation networks covering a wide array of materials. We have extensive experience of manufacturing materials throughout the value chain. We primarily focus on circular transition for a more sustainable economy, material ecosystems for recycling and recovery, and future material production for new, green, sustainable and recyclable materials.
