Expert in maritime and intermodal transport.
Violeta Roso has been working with maritime related issues all her professional life. She is an Associate Professor at Technology Management and Economics, Chalmers where she has been researching dry ports and intermodal transport since 2003. Prior to that she worked at Croatian Hydrographic Institute and SEM Maritime Company in Italy. Violeta is originally from Croatia where she obtained her double graduate degrees in Naval Architecture and Maritime management. At Chalmers she obtained her MSc in Management in logistic and transportation and PhD in Management of Technology and Economics.
Main focus of her research are dry ports for seaport inland access and today she is the leading researcher within the subject with numerous highly cited publications that placed her at the top 2% cited researchers in the world in the field of logistic and transportation (Stanford’s top 2% Scientist list 2023). She has been a visiting academic at UNSW in Sydney, Australia, and UNF in Florida, USA. Additionally, Violeta mentors PhD and master's students and teaches master's and postgraduate courses.
Beyond academia, Violeta’s influence extends to advisory roles within national boards for the Italian Transport Regulation Authority, Swedish National Freight Transport Council, and Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Notably, she has contributed with her expertise to the Scientific Council for Traffic, particularly in the realm of intermodal transport.
