Microanalysis of dots of Organic compounds

Dots and other types of microsamples can be challenging to analyze chemically due to their small size and limited material quantities. We have addressed this issue by microextracting minute samples for further analysis, such as gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.

Purpose

The extraction utilizes only about 100 µL of solvent and can be applied for the analysis of various types of organic compounds. This analytical technique complements the microanalysis of spots using FT-IR already implemented at RISE. By comparing the chemical composition of the spot to that of a reference sample, conclusions can be drawn regarding the origin of the issue as well as potential solutions.

Different organic compounds: Polymers, biomolecules, aromatic compounds, aliphatic compounds, hydrocarbons.
