Innovative methods for diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases
NeuroMET aims to develop minimally and non-invasive methods that could potentially be applied for early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases. The tools and protocols developed will be ready for implementation in partnering hospital laboratories, ultimately leading to improved diagnosis and dose monitoring for patients.
Aim and goal
NeuroMET aims to develop minimally and non-invasive methods that could potentially be applied for early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases (NDD).
Challenge
Neurodegeneration is an incurable, debilitating process which presents a growing medical and economic challenge due to our aging population. Currently, there are no minimally invasive diagnostic tools which allow for early diagnosis or monitoring of the progression of these diseases in patients.
Solution
This project will help to address that challenge by exploring innovative techniques for early diagnosis and monitoring, based on non-invasive magnetic resonance imaging approaches, and developing improved clinical assessment protocols focused on monitoring declining cognitive functions.
Effect
By working directly with clinicians, the tools and protocols developed will be ready for implementation in partnering hospital laboratories, ultimately leading to improved diagnosis and dose monitoring for patients.
