Smart environments based on IoT

InnoITeam is a research project with focus on Smart Environments based on IoT (Internet of Things). The project focuses on establishing a new Centre of Excellence (CoE) in IT Science and Technology for the Internet of Things and Smart Living Systems, which will be referred to as “InnoITeam” in Lithuania.

Aim and goal

to become a leading and self-sustaining Centre of Excellence in the Baltic Sea Region, leveraging the knowledge, experience and resources of its participating national institutions and advanced partners in IoT for Smart Living Systems. This will be achieved through explicit research and innovation topics:

  1. User interface and interaction design approaches for Smart Environments based on IoT;
  2. Cybersecurity aspects in the Smart Environments based on IoT;
  3. Data analysis and visualization approaches for data intensive IoT environments;
  4. Cognitive IoT technologies for smart home environments.

to be responsible for implementing and distributing scientific knowledge in the IoT field:

  1. to provide international and interdisciplinary leadership in the Baltic sea region; 
  2. to create and transfer advanced knowledge, technology and integrated solutions for the megatrend of Internet of Things along with the related activities in related ICT areas;
  3. to foster talents of a new generation of innovation-oriented researchers and professionals;
  4. to promote further enactment and involvement in IT sector for those in common businesses and households.​

in a long term period:

  1. to become the leading provider of innovative technologies for IoT and Big Data for the improvement of the growing technological personal and industry needs in Europe;
  2. to consolidate research and development, education and training, and networking and promotion resources activities in Information and Communications Technology (ICT); 
  3. to coordinate, integrate and support research excellence and innovation development in Lithuania, the Baltic Sea region, and Europe;
  4. to support researchers, academics, industry partners and entrepreneurs in the field of ICT, particularly in the IoT, to produce innovations beneficial for the society and economy of Lithuania and beyond.

Effect

The project is funded under EU Horizon 2020 WIDESPREAD Teaming Phase 1 (as a coordination and support section as a part of spreading excellence and widening participation work program). The project is initially for one year with a possibility to extend for an additional 5 to 7 years.
