Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) is used to measure mass change as a function of temperature, often to determine when and in what steps a material decomposes. Sweeping Calorimetry (DSC) is used to measure thermal energy flow during a reaction or phase transition in a material over a temperature range. The methods and standards used depend on the material being tested and the result of interest. Often no standards are used but a sweep is made over the relevant temperature range to see how the material reacts. Our equipment is a 'simultaneous thermal analysis' (STA) device has the ability to perform both TGA and DSC simultaneously and can for example be used for:
Our STA has the ability to measure from 20 ° C to 1650 ° C in a controlled atmosphere of any ratio between Oxygen-Nitrogen. The desired temperature program can follow standards or be developed as needed. We have the ability to measure extra large samples, up to 5 milliliters.
When the measurement is performed, all results are obtained as well as a report on how the measurement was done where the most important results are presented.

Measurements are made within 1 week after the material has arrived at RISE. The first draft of the report is received 2 weeks after measurements and the final report is received 3 weeks after measurements.
