Machinery in Europe must meet the basic health and safety requirements of the EU Machinery Directive, for a chainsaw covered by Annex 4 of the Machinery Directive, additional requirements apply. RISE SMP is accredited to perform EC type checks and tests in this area.
Cause
RISE is accredited by SWEDAC and, as a notified body and testing lab, has performed testing of chainsaws in the area for 25 years. However, testing of chainsaws has been an active part of our business since 1918. We participate at EU level in the work of interpreting and revising harmonized standards for portable chainsaws for wood, and therefore have extensive expertise in the field.
Method
In connection with an EC type inspection, we test and assess the machine, the results are compiled in a test report. The manufacturer usually sends the chainsaw to RISE for testing according to a number of test steps necessary to demonstrate that the saw meets all requirements. The requirements apply to chainsaws intended for forestry or tree pruning and regardless of the power source.
