Light microscopy quickly shows small details

With light microscopy, you can quickly get an overview of the problem and all images are displayed in color. It is often used in connection with product development, problem solving and support to end customers. To gain an understanding of a product, a microscopic image often leads you on to decisions about further approaches.

Purpose

Different types of assignments:

Fiber:

  • Fiber composition
  • Fiber identification
  • Fiber damage
  • Fiber studies
  • Vascular cells

Cross section - studies in z-direction
Distribution of starch, OBA, ink in z-direction
Provisions such as location, tape deductions

  • Magnesium hydroxide, MgOH2
  • Calcium carbonate, CaCO3
  • Bacteria
  • Coating
  • Ink
  • Bark

Microorganisms: Algiers, amoeba, ciliate, hypha, diatoms, nematodes, rotifers etc..
Size measurements (eg fiber wall thickness, top layer, coating thickness)
Surfaces and print quality:

  • Fibers on the surface
  • Visible contamination through coating layers
  • Defects in foiled surface
  • Printing surfaces
  • Fold cracking

Types of samples: Pulp / Paper / Cardboard, Scrap, Dots, Rubber Dust, Printed Finished Product, Solutions, Enclosures

Method

Technical information light microscope

Brilliant lighting

  • Light Field, BF = Bright Field
  • Dark Field, DF = Dark Field
  • Polarized light
  • DIC = Differential Interference Contrast
  • Phase contrast

Striking lighting

  • Light Field, BF = Bright Field
  • Dark Field, DF = Dark Field
  • Polarized light
  • DIC = Differential Interference Contrast
  • UV light (Fluorescence microscope) in different wavelengths
  • We also have Stereomicroscope & Microtome

Magnification limit 1000x, resolution limit ~ 0.2 µm

Deliveries

Analysis results are delivered by e-mail, normally within 15 working days of the samples arriving to us. With reservation for samples that require special treatment. Express analyzes can be obtained at a surcharge by agreement.

If nothing specifically agreed, the samples are saved four weeks after analysis.

Preparations

Recommendations for sampling:

Scrape in a jar when sampling

Do not mark too close to the defect / problem

Exposure is performed on RISE

Send references
- Process and functional chemicals / materials
- Good reference test to compare with problem / bad test

Supports the UN sustainability goals

9. Industry, innovation and infrastructure
12. Responsible consumption and production
