Analyzes for process chemicals

Chemicals that come out of the process need to be analyzed, checked and classified in order to know what measures need to be taken during any post-processing. Suggestions for common analyzes for process chemicals can be found below.

Purpose

We are happy to discuss analysis approaches to your production process chemicals. Below you will find examples of analyzes for the process chemicals lime, lixivium, soap, tall oil, white water and methanol. There is a package for incrustation as well.

    Method

    Soap:

    • Tall oil (maximum theoretical yield in soap)
    • Lixivium amount
    • Calcium (important for eg crust formation)
    • Dry content
    • Calorific value

Tall oil - is a dark brown, viscous and sulfur-containing liquid that is formed during the production of pulp via the sulphate process, black liquor and comes from the extractives. The constituents of tall oil can be divided into fatty acids, resin acids, neutral substances and lignin (small amounts). It contains valuable chemical substances that can be further processed into, among other things, green chemicals.

    • Acid number
    • Neutral substances (unsaponifiable matter)
    • Composition m.a.p. fatty and resin acids
    • Water content
    • Ash content
    • Total sulfur
    • Total sodium

Lixiviums - to make detailed evaluations of different sub-processes in chemical recycling, analyzes of the contents / composition of lixiviums in different positions are needed. We have a number of analyzes for each type of lixivium that can be performed to assist in the evaluations. Feel free to contact us for guidance and information.

    Black liquor:

    • Fiber content (total content)
    • Residual alkali (hydroxide), carbonate
    • Concentrates of sulphide, sulphite, sulphate, thiosulphate, total-sulfur,
    • Oxalate content
    • Chloride content
    • Metal content
    • Carbohydrates, total, polymeric, free (monomer)
    • Lignin (total content)
    • Molecular weight distribution lignin
    • Tall oil
    • Terpener
    • Hydroxy acids (subcontractor)
    • Volatile acids (subcontractor)
    • Dry content
    • Ash content

    White- and green lixivium:

    • Alkali content, total, active and effective alkali
    • Carbonate content
    • Content of Sulfide, sulfite, sulfate, thiosulfate, total sulfur
    • Content of potassium and sodium
    • Chloride content
    • Metal content

    Encrustaions:

    • Carbonate content
    • Sulfate content
    • Oxalate content
    • Calcium (total content) and Calcium (dissolved content)
    • Sodium content
    • Aluminum content
    • Silica content
    • Dry content

    White water:

    • Anions
    • Cation requirements
    • Carboxylic acids
    • Uronic acid
    • ASA, total content
    • Carbohydrates, total content
    • Lignin
    • Optical white agent
    • Starch

    Lime:

    • Free lime
Metals (Na, Mg, Ca, Mn, Fe, Al, Si, P, S)
      Acid soluble sodium

    Methanol / impure condensate:

    • Methanol
    • Water content
    • Ammonium
    • Total nitrogen
    • TRS (hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide)
    • Total sulfur
    • Monoterpenes (α-pinene, β-pinene, 3-caren, limonene)
    • Total monoterpenoids
    • Total sesquiterpener
    • Total diterpenoids
    • GC-MS: Screening other organic compounds
