The SOL:AR project maps preconditions and needs for a digital visualization tool for solar energy and solar shielding solutions. Solar energy and solar shielding have a significant potential to reduce the need for bought energy in new and existing buildings, but existing barriers must be lowered in order for housing owners and others to invest.
The SOL: AR project - Support for SOLar energy investments through advanced visualization - will map the conditions and needs of a digital visualization tool for solar and solar shielding solutions. At the end of the project, technical requirements for such a tool are to be developed, which will enable the next development phase.
A digital visualization tool can be an important tool that facilitates future decision making for architects, property owners and other players, thus reducing uncertainty for an investment in solar energy. The tool will fill two main purposes: To visualize aesthetic aspects by showing how solar solutions affect the appearance of properties and to illustrate technical and economic calculations, such as how much energy can be saved and how much electricity a plant can produce.
Through clear visualization there is potential to streamline the process from inspiration to installation and to create new contact areas within the solar and real estate industry. The project is being carried out together with partners with complementary skills in the field including architecture, digitalization, law and construction and real estate.
