This project creates the serious game SCENE, with a first version on the future of Food and agriculture 2040. SCENE is a future-simulation tool that uses techniques from entertainment and foresight to engage participants in active exploration of different scenarios.
SCENE is played by 5 players who takes on the roll as either a Business, a Civil Society Organisation, a Policymaker or a Public Voice, to explore two future scenarios and take actions to reach the long-term goals of their organisation.
SCENE can be played to test visions, strategies, policy, and solutions to practical problems as participants engage in and experience scenarios and future-oriented systems thinking. SCENE can be played in half a day for a short futures experience or be a part of a customised offer.
SCENE is adapted from the Scenario Exploration System (SES), created by © European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. SES was awarded with Most Significant Futures Works 2016, and has numerous versions such as ’Sustainable Transitions’, and many successors such as ‘Mobility is a Serious Game’, also available to play at RISE.
