Calculation of air exchange through revolving doors

The project “Air exchange through revolving doors” aims at developing new knowledge about how a revolving door affects a building’s need for heating. Today there are no simple and useful, yet reliable, models available for calculating how a revolving door affects the energy need for heating.

Aim and goal

Develop empirical relationships for air exchange through revolving doors with respect to different rotational speed and different temperature differences.

Challenge

Today there is a lack of simple and useful models available for calculating how rotating doors affect a buildings energy need for heating.

Solution

Development of empirical relationships based on measurement results from a laboratory environment for 1-3 full scale revolving doors.

Effect

Manufacturers of revolving doors can verify and update their calculation tools. Property owners are more likely to choose entrance solutions with a better energy performance, when there is a better knowledge about how the door affects the building’s heating needs.
