Protection of electronics in challenging environments

As a member of the network you will have the opportunity to exchange experiences with electronics manufacturers, companies that use electronics in their products, subcontractors, contract manufacturers and with researchers from RISE.

Electronics are increasingly placed in challenging environments, for example where moisture, water penetration, temperature changes, vibration or corrosive gases occur. Despite the more vulnerable environment, our expectations of the quality and service life of electronics are increasing, with the retention or declining price.

Through the network Protection of electronics in challenging environments you will have the opportunity to meet and share experiences with electronics manufacturers, companies that use electronics in their products, subcontractors, contract manufacturers.

RISE researchers share their experiences from research projects, investigations and published data to benefit the network.

Our subject areas

  • Protection against corrosive environments
  • Vibration and fatigue (PCBA and electrical contacts)
  • Usability of different simulation methods
    - Moisture penetration
    - Vibration effects
    - Collaboration layout (leader distance etc) and environment
  • Protective efficiency of methods such as conformal coating, embedding, encapsulation
  • Conformal coating
    - New materials and application methods
    - Surface contamination

Benefits for members

As a member of the network, you will get:

  • Two seminars per year with presentations of new scientific findings and experiences in the field
  • Forum to discuss your own issues with representatives from other companies, academia and institutes
  • Website with notices, articles, information from conferences, project results and more
  • Information on calls for publicly funded research projects
  • Increased opportunities for joint projects, and thus shared costs, and for projects wholly or partly financed by public financiers
