Sustainability analysis in the water and wastewater area

Policy makers within both the public and private sectors regularly make decisions regarding management of drinking water, storm water and wastewater. When alternatives for example exploration, expansion, rebuilding and additions are to be evaluated and prioritized sustainability analyses based on multi-criteria analysis and cost-benefit analysis can provide valuable information insights without equivalent. Our sustainability analyses help policy makers make well-founded priorities and decisions.

For complex issues regarding water and wastewater management decisions should be guided by information that encourages efficient and sustainable water and resource use. However, it is not easy to decide where or which measures should be taken, especially if innovative alternatives and measures are evaluated. Through sustainability analysis both environmental and social consequences is considered and put in relation to the costs and benefits of the measures. This allows for well-founded priorities and decisions based on comprehensive decision support.

Our sustainability analyses are adapted to take into account what is considered important for the specific organization, situation and/or region in which you are located. Sustainability analyses can be performed on all types of issues, from small to large investments and policy decisions. Choosing, for example, new water source, placement of stormwater solutions, organizational structure, management of nutrients from wastewater and placement of technology with regard to users, organization and site conditions are some examples of issues where we have experience in applying sustainability analysis.

We develop and apply tailor-made decision support for your issues which creates an understanding of the balances required and the measures that are economically advantageous as well as socially and environmentally sustainable. This understanding is required in order to be able to make well-founded priorities for measures aimed at long-term sustainable water and resource management.
