Mechanical propertis of paper, paperboards, liner and other paper based materials are needed to determine the behaviour of end-products, or to do FEM simulations of paper materials.
RISE can determine relevant material properties
To be able to improve product quality it is necessary to be able to measure the behaviour correctly. RISE have a long tradition to develop test methods for paper products.
Testing equipment in the lab:
•Multi-purpose testing devices: 4 hydraulic machines and 3 screws-driven machines
•Load interval: 1 N – 40 kN
•Strain measurements by: Extensiometers, LVDT gauges, Piston displacement
•Characterization of material properties
–Dynamic, pulses down to 5 ms
•Standard testing of mechanical properties including
–In-plane tension, fracture toughness, SCT, bending stiffness
–Corrugated board measurements, such as CMT, FCT
•Specialised equipment developed in-house, e.g.
–In-plane compression tester for static or creep testing
–Creasing and folding
•MTS for various testing and method development
–Out-of-plane shear tests
–Short tensile testing
•Characterization of variations
–In-plane variations during e.g. tensile testing
–Shear strength profiles in the through thickness direction
