Hanna de la Motte is a researcher at the Division of Materials and Production (Department of Chemistry, Biomaterials and Textiles; unit Fiber Development). She is also the Focus Area Manager for Circular Materials Ecosystems within AoI Material Transition.
Hanna has broad competence in e.g. recycling of materials (mainly chemical recycling of textiles / plastics), cellulose science, derivatization and modification of fibers and organic chemistry. Hanna also has several years of experience in project management from both large interdisciplinary and system-wide projects (eg Mistra Future Fashion, where she had a leading role) and smaller research projects.
Hanna leads projects and initiatives both in the production of sustainable materials, and recycling, mainly textiles and materials that consist of cellulosics and/or fiber mixtures. She also works to create a better understanding of how materials can be better handled at the end of the life cycle by looking at collaboration between different actors from a systems perspective, mainly the pulp and paper industry, the chemical industry and bio / return refineries.
Hanna holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Chalmers University of Technology, where she still supervises students and postdocs. She also conducts guest research together with BOKU University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. She did her undergraduate degree (M.Sc.) at the Department of Chemistry at Lund University with an emphasis on organic chemistry.
