Step 2. Identify hazardous substances

In Step 2, it is time to investigate if there are any hazardous chemicals to substitute in your goods. This assumes that you have collected information about the content of your goods from the suppliers, as described in Step 1.

I Steg 2 använder du den information du fått om kemikalieinnehåll i dina varor och material för att identifiera vilka kemikalier som ska fasas ut. När du söker i kemikalielagstiftningen och andra verktyg kan du använda dig av:

  • Det kemiska namnet
  • Ämnets CAS-nummer (Chemical Abstracts Service number), fungerar som ett internationellt identifieringsnummer för kemiska ämnen
  • Ämnets EG-nummer, identifieringsnummer för kemiska ämnen på den europeiska marknaden

Hitta farliga ämnen i kemikalielagstiftningen

Du bör börja med att kontrollera om något eller några av ämnena i dina varor är klassificerade som farliga eller särskilt farliga enligt kemikalielagstiftningen, och omfattas av krav på information, begränsningar eller tillstånd.

Ligg steget före lagstiftningen

Det finns också olika substitutionsverktyg du kan använda dig av, verktyg som utöver redan lagstiftade ämnen också kan innehålla ämnen som i framtiden kan omfattas av krav på information, begränsningar eller tillstånd. Genom att använda dessa kan du alltså ligga steget före lagstiftningen!

Kemiska analyser

För att kontrollera den information du fått från dina leverantörer kan du beställa en kemisk analys, något som också kan vara användbart i de fall du inte får in information om ett visst innehåll. Däremot så kräver detta att du i förväg vet vilka ämnen du ska be om att få analyserade, till exempel om du vill säkerställa att inga särskilt farliga ftalater eller en viss typ av flamskyddsmedel inte ingår i dina varor/material.
