The international standard ISO 26262 is used for ensuring functional safety of electric/electronic (E/E) systems used for implementing safety-related functionality in road vehicles.
The course explains the hardware development life cycle according to the ISO 26262 standard for functional safety of E/E systems in the automotive domain.
The participants will get an understanding of the activities that are prescribed in the different phases of the reference model for the hardware development. A special focus is on the methods for evaluation of effects of random hardware failures.
The goal of the course is to give hardware developers in the automotive domain an understanding of the parts of ISO 26262 that are most relevant to them. Building on the ISO 26262 overview course, this course goes deeper into primarily part 5 of the standard – Product development at the hardware level, but also covers some of the requirements in parts 6, 7, 8, and 9 that are related to the hardware development.
The course is suited for hardware engineers in the automotive domain.
